I’m Vanja Manborg, an independent energy consultant based in Lugano, Switzerland. I help energy suppliers and urban developers make decisions when the technical options, economics and environmental consequences are closely connected.

You can involve me before there is a clear brief. I help define the decision, identify the questions that matter and build the analysis needed to move forward. My work combines energy-system modelling, scenario analysis, investment assessment and coordination across organisations.

My 18 years in the energy sector span both strategy and practical delivery. In a large real estate company in Gothenburg, I worked with energy strategies, calculations, budgets, project management, control-system programming and installation. That experience helps me connect a model’s assumptions with the systems and people that have to make it work.

Since 2018, my consulting work, including projects with the Swedish consultancy Profu, has covered district heating, energy supply, city development and collaboration between utilities and hospitals. I also use consequential environmental assessment to explore how a decision affects the wider energy system.

I have co-developed energy-cost comparison applications and interfaces for the PyPSE modelling framework. These are tools for making complex choices understandable. One example of this approach is an interactive refurbishment planning tool that helped a property owner compare projects and seek investment approval.

I hold a Master of Engineering in Sustainable Energy Systems from Chalmers University of Technology (2009) and founded Manborg Consulting in 2022. Based in Lugano, I am available for projects across the DACH region and elsewhere in Europe.
